Peer through the lens of the arts to discover the hidden world of microscopic organisms. Fourteen artists and writers magnify the microbiome and explore a hidden realm of the arctic tundra in an inventive art-science project funded by the National Science Foundation. The exhibit, which originally debuted in Alaska, has been organized by Mary Beth Leigh, professor of microbiology at University of Alaska-Fairbanks and leader in the art-science program In a Time of Change, which is part of the Bonanza Creek Long-Term Ecological Research program.

Jerri Bartholomew, professor of microbiology at Oregon State University, and Helen Wilhelm, curator of The Little Gallery, hosted the exhibit in September and October 2020. This program has been supported by the ART-SCI group at Oregon State University, the Departments of Microbiology and Crop and Soil Science, the Andrews Forest LTER program, and Spring Creek Project for Ideas, Nature, and the Written Word.
